Christmas Week: Best Holiday Ep EVER?

Hey pals!

After some of our discussions this week, I was thinking it might be time to crown a best BONES Christmas episode of all time. Of course that is not something I could do on my own…no, I would need your assistance.

So, I thought we’d put it to a vote and break it down Dr. Jack-style. I once did this kind of thing for Booth vs. Angel at GMMR, and it was a lot of fun. Obviously, we have three Christmas eps, so it’s not the exact same as two things going head to head against one another, but…I still think it will work.

Here’s how it works: I will lay out several categories, and it’s up to you to enter your votes in the comments. One vote per person, so make it count. I’ll tally up the votes and put together a “results show” to post closer to Christmas, and also, I will allow myself one (1) overrule over y’all! If I feel that you are all wrong, and I’m right about a particular issue, I’ll pick my choice. But I only get one! I must use it wisely 🙂

Alright…here we go!

Between:

A. The Man in the Fallout Shelter (Season One)

B. The Santa in the Slush (Season Three)

C. The Goop on the Girl (Season Five)

…Which has the best:

1. Title

2. Actual honest-to-goodness case

3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets)

4. Music

5. Quote/section of dialogue (and what is it? Stephanie got us started on Monday; check that out if you haven’t already!)

(to pull from Owl’s criteria with the next three:)

6. Moment that makes you laugh

7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad

8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith

9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc)

10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’

11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc)

12.  Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene (Need some refreshers?)

13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment:

(side note: you don’t have to vote on THOSE moments; I just wanted to show the gorgeousness. Feel free to submit whatever moment you want to!)

14. B&B Moment

15. B&B Ending

So what do you think? Vote below! You are welcome to just put A, B, or C for your choices or to list the criteria and the titles, but it’s always fun when you EXPLAIN your reasoning! I’ll keep the comments open for voting until midnight Pacific Standard Time on Christmas Eve/Christmas Morning.

Woo! I can’t wait to hear what you have to say. For those of you who have never commented here at BT, this is a great opportunity!  I’m curious to find out which BONES Christmas ep will come out on top!

Peace, Love & Bones

  1. . Title The Man In the Fall Out Shelter

    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case Brennan and Booth find out that Careful Lionel was killed trying to get enough money together so that he and his true love could move to Paris

    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets) Hodgins drinking eggnog, not following protocol and forcing everyone to go into isolation because he inhaled contaminated bone dust. I thought it was very funny that Booth threatened to shoot Hodgins and Zach if it turned out to be fatal.

    4. Music Santa Clause Is Coming To Town. Now it kind of gives me the creeps when I hear it.

    5. Quote/section of dialogue (and what is it? Stephanie got us started on Monday; check that out if you haven’t already!) Hodgins: that is so not fair

(to pull from Owl’s criteria with the next three:)

    6. Moment that makes you laugh Booth and his Christmas underwear and socks (when he was getting his shot)

    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad Its a tie – Brennan opening her Christmas Card from her parents in The Man In The Fallout Shelter and the funeral of the Santa that was blown up in The Goop In The Girl

    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith This show doesn’t make me question my faith

    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc) Man In The Fallout Shelter (Except the Mistletoe scene with Brennan and Booth in Santa In The Slush what can I say – I love that scene)

    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’ The Man In The Fallout Shelter – We got to see the families of everyong (except Brennan). This was the first time we got to see adorable Parker.

    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc) The Christmas tree that Angela made in The Man In The Fallout Shelter – It was beautiful

    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene (Need some refreshers?) Booth in his Christmas underwear and socks. So cute
    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: Brennan opening her Christmas card from her parents
    14. B&B Moment Brennan getting evidence from Booth (his clothes) – WOW

    15. B&B Ending Booth with Parker in the parking lot with the Christmas tree and Brennan seeing it from the trailer – a wonderful ending

  2. I love the other ones but THE MAN IN FALLOUT SHELTER has the special place on my heart. This episode catch me every time i watch and i already watched this month 3 times and i’ll watch again on X-mans eve.Everything on it is perfect. To me is the perfect X-mans episode of all time.

  4. Hi there! For now I’ll just make my vote for most of the categories in my personal seasonal favourite, The Man in the Fallout Shelter. I’m going to post my reasons later, after I’ve had time to rewatch the three contestants in order to draw the comparisons that my head jumps to but my brain can’t just pull out the details of episodes I watched over a year ago.

My main reason, the one I can actually pull out right away, is that this episode was the first real look into each of the participants’ lives and it brought about many subjects that play into their stories still. This one wasn’t just a glimpse to make the chapter go, this episode built many of the characteristics upon which each character is recognised since then. It was a great writing move for the show.

  5. 1. A
    2. B (Since I think this was their most typical kind of case)
    3. A (Because even though Sweets isn’t in it, all the squints are trapped together and are shown more than normal)
    4. C (Because of my answer to the question #5)
    5. C (The radio guy’s last broadcast is simply awesome)
    6. A (When they’re all talking religion over chinese and Zach admits that according to his mother he’s Lutheran…or something like that)
    7. C (The victim’s funeral)
    8. C (I have to refer to radio guy’s last broadcast again – it’s just that good)
    9. A (Between the elements of the holiday party at the beginning…to their homemade christmas decorations, etc.)
    10. C (Brennan’s Christmas Dinner)
    11. C (I actually liked seeing Brennan’s apartment all decked out for Christmas)
    12. C (There are so many good ones, but I gotta go with Brennan collecting ‘evidence’)
    13. A (This was a little harder to pick, but I think I’ll go with the picture you posted from ‘Fallout’, even though I know I didn’t have to pick from the pictures…)
    14. B (Gotta be the Mistletoe kiss!!!!!)
    15. B (Gotta be the Christmas tree outside of the jail window!)

  6. 1. C. Because you don’t know what the goop is and you really don’t want to.
    2. B. They had to actually go out and ‘broil’ suspects.
    3. B. Zach found out that Santa got kicked by a reindeer and Hodgins got to got dumpster diving.
    4. A. That version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas gets me every time, especially with Brennan opening her gifts.
    5. B. “I’m feeling puckish.” (or something to that effect) Caroline Julian.
    6. A. Booth’s reaction to the anti-fungal cocktail and his doofy hat.
    7. C. Santa’s mom when she realizes that her son is dead and now she’s all alone.
    8. C. The radio broadcast.
    9. C. Because Max got an ’employee discount’ on a Christmas tree. (This one I would actually say that all 3 did a pretty good job- I just like Max picking out a tree for Brennan.)
    10. B. Brennan pulled strings to get her father the Christmas he wanted with her and Russ and his family. And Booth got Christmas with Parker.
    11. B. You have the FBI building, the Jeffersonian, the jail, Kris Kringle’s apartment, the alleyway in which Hodgins dumpster dives, the Santa Clause office, and the diner.
    12. B. Booth’s face when they go into Kris Kringle’s apartment and he turns on the light. He looks so adorable and excited.
    13. C. She just looks so beautiful at the dinner party when she’s making her dorky little toast. No wonder Booth has to sneak a peak at her.
    14. B & C. B- Because they kissed under mistletoe to ‘satisfy’ Caroline’s puckish side and then they were so blown away by it Brennan said ‘stuff’. C- Because Brennan got to undress Booth. Wowza! So these are kind of shallow moments but they always make me excited to watch the episodes and that makes me happy.
    15. C. Brennan has Booth sitting at her right side at the dinner party and during the moment of silence (because there’s no praying in Brennan’s house) Booth sneaks a glimpse at Brennan. It’s adorable.

  7. 1. The Man in The Fallout Shelter
    2. The Man in The Fallout Shelter. The case is so sweet, especially the ending.
    3. The Man in the Fallout Shelter, since we get to meet the families of the squints and learn more about them.
    4. The Santa in the Slush
    5. The Santa in the Slush, after B&B kiss and Brennan says it was like kissing her brother and Caroline says you sure must like your brother.
    6. The Goop on the Girl, the look on Booth’s face when Brennan is undressing him.
    7. The Man in The Fallout Shelter, when Brennan is having the conversation with Angela about her parents.
    8. I guess, The Man in The Fallout Shelter when Booth is high and talking to Brennan about how she can’t measure God, so he can’t possibly be real.
    9. The Man in The Fallout Shelter because they all exchange gifts and do their best to make their own christmas together.
    10. The Goop on The Girl, becuase everyone ends up at Brennan’s house for christmas dinner and it’s just really nice that they’re all able to spend christmas together.
    11. The Santa in The Slush because of the last scene with Booth and Parker outside the jail in the snow with the christmas tree. It’s such a beautiful scene.
    12. The Santa in the Slush because of Booth’s yummy sweater.
    13. The Man in the Fallout Shelter because I love Brennan’s look in Season 1.
    14. The kiss in The Santa in the Slush
    15. The Goop on the Girl when Booth and Brennan decide to go to the funeral at the end and Booth tells Brennan she’s nicer than people give her credit for.
I may be slightly biased since my favourite episode of Bones is The Man in The Fallout Shelter. XD

  8. 1. Title: A
I have no reason; it just sounds nice
    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case: B
    it’s the most normal case
    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets): A
Hodgins spiking the eggnog and Zack being wonderful
    4. Music: C
    Snowfall- Ingrid Michaelson
    5. Quote/section of dialogue: B
Caroline and her steamboats (“it will amuse me”)
    6. Moment that makes you laugh: A
    high Booth and “helicopter pilots”
    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad: A
    Brennan opening her gifts
    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith: C
    the radio station
    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc): B
    mistletoe ❤
    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’: B
Brennan choosing to spend Christmas with hers and Booth bringing the tree
    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc): C
the lab as a context for undressing Booth
    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene: C
    one word: evidence
    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: A
she looks incredibly gorgeous throughout the episode (I love season 1 Brennan)
    14. B&B Moment: B
    the kiss, of course
    15. B&B Ending: B
the tree and "merry Christmas, Bones," etc.

sigh. I love Bones Christmas episodes.

  9. 1. The Goop in the Girl – Well, no reason other than this is my favorite Christmas Episode. 🙂
    2. Man in the Fallout Shelter. C was a good contender, but this case had a happier ending.
    3. Santa in the Slush – Can we put Caroline in the squint category? Because she was feeling puckish! That was the best.
    4. The Goop in the Girl
    5. The Goop in the Girl-
Booth: You know, when I say heartbreaking you say the heart is a muscle, so it can’t break. It can only get crushed.
    Brennan: Isn’t it heartcrushing?
Booth: You want to go to his funeral?
Brennan: Yes, I would. Then she won’t be alone.
Booth: You know what, Bones? Sometimes I think your heart muscle is bigger than people give you credit for.
    6. Santa in the Slush – Sweets: “I’m all ears.”
    7. The Goop in the Girl – When they go to the funeral on Christmas.
    8. Santa in the Slush – This isn’t exactly about religious faith, but it always gets to me that Booth is an adult but he still loves Christmas and he likes believing in Santa. I hope when I’m older I’ll still like Christmas as much. 🙂
    9. Man in the Fallout Shelter – there’s eggnog that made Hodgins just a bit to Merry, Zack is lutheran, and Angela dressed as an elf. They even had secret santa!
    10. The Goop in the Girl becuase Hodgins says “There’s more than one kind of familiy” at a Christmas dinner in Brennan’s appartment. And we get to meet Brenann’s second cousin, which makes Booth state the difference between family and friends; then Jared comes up. Hahaha.
    11. The Goop in the Girl – This time Brennan had her own Christmas tree!
    12. The Goop in the Girl – Evidence Booth.
    13. The Goop in the Girl – Brennan inviting Booth to dinner so that he knows he’s loved.
    14. Santa in the Slush – The Kiss!
    15. Santa in the Slush – Booth bringing the Christmas Tree and Brennan seeing it from the window and saying Merry Christmas. 🙂

  10. Well since if asked which is my favorite episode overall the first to pop into my mind is Fallout Shelter I’d have to say it’s also my favorite Christmas Episode. Of course once I start thinking about it more I just can’t limit myself to just one favorite Bones episode, in fact I can’t limit myself to one favorite per season. I’d need at least five per season. 🙂

But still for Christmas episodes I’d have to say The Man in the Fallout Shelter. It was the first and we found out things about each of the central characters. Having them isolated in that way, and still solving a case while revealing things about themselves was great. Some revelations were larger than others, but we learned at least a little bit about each of them.

I think a case could be made for this episode in eah of your categories:

    1. Title: The Man in the Fallout Shelter, come on doesn’t that make you curious and what to see what it’s all about

    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case: How cool is it that they were able to solve an old murder case without ever leaving the lab, and in solving this case they were able to give a woman back her faith in the man she loved.

    3. Use of the Squints: Well can’t include Sweets in this because he hadn’t shown up yet, but the squints that existed at that time were definitely made good use of. We learned a bit about each of them, and they each shined a light on the other. It was simply awesome, maybe the beginning bonding of them becoming the family we know today.

    4. Music: I really did enjoy the use of the Christmas music through-out the episode. It’s just a perfect match. I love listening to it as well as watching it.

    5. Quote/section of dialogue. Come on we have wonderful quotes from here: “Friends don’t let friends photocopy their butts.”, “Be kind, rewind.”, “Nothing brings people together like a Christmas lung fungus.”, “Christmas eve day, it’s both and eve and a day. It’s a Christmas miracle.”, “You are stoned Agent Booth.” etc.

    6. Moment that makes you laugh. Angela dressed as an elf tapping her foot (with the jingle bell on the curled toe) telling them she’s going t kiss them under the mistleto…isn’t that a fantastic moment. And a stoned Booth, when it first starts and Hodgins says that it’s not fair.

    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad. Brennan saying that she knows how Ivy felt when Lionel never showed up.

    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith. OK well really none have ever made me question my faith, and in many ways I think this one might actually help restore faith more than question it.????

    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc). This one we have Angela as an elf, isn’t that just great, and that Christmas tree she created. All of them working to come with with a secret Santa gift from what they had available on hand in the lab. Isn’t it always said that it’s the thought that matters, and they did each put thought and effort into coming up with something that would matter to the person they drew.

    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’ Ah yes and I do have to say the theme for The Man in the Fallout Shelter would definitely be family. We got to see each of the characters with their family, all except for Brennan that is, and that’s part of the theme…that she no longer has a family. We learn what each considers their family and see them with said family. We learn Booth has a son, that he was never married to his son’s mother. We meet Parker for the first time and isn’t he adorable. We learn Goodman is married with twin daughters, who we see in his meeting through the glass door at the lab, we also learn he is a deacon at his church would many would consider a larger family. We see Angela’s father and learn they have a tradition of getting together just the two of them for Christmas, and see Zack’s large family who all gather at the door to spend a bit of time with him for Christmas, we see them laugh together, we also get Zack saying he’s a rational empiricist unless you talk to his mother, then he’s Lutheran. Now Jack doesn’t have a tradtional family we see him meeting with a woman that he plans on taking to Quebec and a bed and breakfast. He’s creating his own quasi family for this traditonally family holiday. And let’s not forget Ivy Gillespie, who raised her daughter alone thinking that her boyfriend had run out on her leaving her alone and pregnant. Now she’s been given so much back to know now that he didn’t abandon her, and now in a way her family is restored. She knows now that he loved her.

    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc). They made great use of the lab. This was a bottle show that all took place in the lab (well except for that small scene in Wong Foo’s at the end) and being in the lab in no way detracted from the episode, in fact I think it enhanced the episode. Having it all set in the lab leant an air of intimacy to the episode and I think enhanced the feeling of all of them bonding, maybe the first hints of them becoming more than work associates, and more of the other kind of family (back to the theme).

    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene (Need some refreshers?). Of course Booth dropping trou for the shot, to reveal his Christmas boxers was great, and the scene with him still enjoying his shot, wearing Angela’s elf hat and a wife beater, he was just absolutely adorable there.

    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: Brennan was just gorgeous in the picture you included, but I really think as she’s making those calls trying to find Ivey Gillespie, and she’s being polite and remembering to wish them Merry Christmas, she just so beautful in those moments.

    14. B&B Moment: Wow which to pick? Should it be when he’s still a bit stoned and shaking his finger at her about not giving the “the man upstairs” a chance, or should it be when they are talking about her not knowing he had a son, then she sneezes, or maybe the scene at Sid’s when he tells her that she gave Ivey much more than just a coin woth $100k…no I think I’ll go to a very brief B&B moment when he turns back to her as everyone rushes out of the lab after getting the green light and invites her to join him at Sids.

    15. B&B Ending The B&B ending in The Man in the Fallout Shelter is great starting with that scene as they all leave the lab and ending with Parker running up to Booth, and then waving to Brennan over Booth’s shoulder as they leave. It was just great, and part of the continuing journey of these two growning together and really teaching each other about relationships, and what is important in them.

  11. 1. Title: The Goop on the Girl. Usually Bones episode titles refer to the victim. In this case, the “girl” in the title is both one of the victims (she did get blown-up on after all) and one of the perpetrators.

    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case: As much as I liked careful Lionel’s story (I get choked up every time I watch it), I have to go with The Goop on the Girl for this one too. Not only did the case take a couple of unexpected twists and turns, but the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death and Owen Theil’s accidental involvement were just heartbreaking.

    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets): The Man in the Fallout Shelter. Having them all locked up together in the same place for a couple days really gave them a chance to shine.

    4. Music: “Star of Wonder” – the song that alternates with Owen Thiel’s monologue in The Goop on the Girl.

    5. Quote/section of dialogue: Owen Thiel’s monologue from The Goop on the Girl. There are many awesome quotes in these three episodes (so many that I had to cut myself down to ten for my post on Monday…and my original intention was to pick just five or six) but there’s just something about this one that literally brings me to tears. I don’t know if it’s the words, or the music, or the images that play as he’s speaking, but it’s just so…profound. And as Jen said in her comment on Monday, I love that Bones is willing to “go there” in their portrayal of the Christian faith.

    6. Moment that makes you laugh: The Santa in the Slush. Caroline’s feeling puckish; the astonished look on her face as she watches Booth and Brennan kiss; the fact that she couldn’t get her coffee to taste right. Actually, Caroline makes me laugh throughout that entire episode.

    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad: Not to beat a dead horse, but…The Goop on the Girl. See my answer to number five.

    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith: I wouldn’t say anything actually makes me question my faith, but one moment that always makes me think is the scene between Booth and Owen Thiel at the FBI building in The Goop on the Girl. I struggle with the fact that Booth is so unwilling to accept Thiel’s apology, which I see as a true sign of remorse. Thiel’s involvement in the case was purely accidental and you can tell that he’s very affected by what’s happened. While I understand that Booth was angry on the victim’s behalf, it’s still hard to see him treat Thiel like his apology doesn’t matter. Maybe that’s why I’m affected by the monologue at the end so much.

    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements: The mistletoe kiss from The Santa in the Slush. And the extended kissing scene from the DVD is even better.

    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’: The Man in the Fallout Shelter. Brennan comes to terms, to some extent, with what happened with her family (makes peace if you will), partly through viewing everyone else with their loved ones and partly through solving careful Lionel’s murder and finding Ivey Gillespie. The scene at the end where she opens her gifts is particularly touching.

    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc): The Santa in the Slush.

    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene: Um, did you even need to ask? The “evidence” scene in The Goop on the Girl.

    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: Can I pick two? The “helicopter pilot” scene from The Man in the Fallout Shelter and the end scene from The Goop on the Girl where she’s wearing the purple shirt (both pictures are in my post from Monday).

    14. B&B Moment: The Santa in the Slush. Mistletoe kiss.

    15. B&B Ending: The Santa in the Slush. Booth…Brennan…Parker…and a Christmas tree.

  12. 1. Title – Man in the Fallout Shelter
    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case – Man in the Fallout Shelter
    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets) – Tie between MITFS and TGOTG.
    4. Music – The Santa in the Slush
    5. Quote/section of dialogue – Booth: Bones! It’s Christmas Eve day! Both an eve and a day. It’s a Christmas miracle!
    6. Moment that makes you laugh – Booth being “totally stoned” talking to Goodman.
    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad – The funeral scene in TGOTG and the scene where Brennan opens her presents from her parents in MITFS.
    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith – Um…..difficult question to answer….probably the entire episode of MITF, because I don’t really have a religion, but this episode makes it seem like its not so bad.
    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements – Man in the Fallout Shelter
    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’ – Tie between Santa in the Slush and The Goop on the Girl.
    11. Use of setting – Man in the Fallout Shelter
    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene (Need some refreshers?)
UGH! Make me choose between the best Booth scenes ever!?!?! Fine I pick the one from the Man in the Fallout Shelter.
    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment:
If we’re going with gorgeous, then definitely the one from Man in the Fallout Shelter. Brennan looks stunning in that scene.
    14. B&B Moment – “Isn’t it heart crushing?” car scene. :,(
    15. B&B Ending – Booth and Parker giving Bones and her family a Christmas tree outside the jail. ☺ “I love my gift, Booth.”

So as we can see with my answers, Man in the Fallout Shelter is my favorite out of the three. I’ve probably seen this episode more than every other episode (not including the Pilot). It’s an episode that has always brought me to tears like no other episode can (now Doctor in the Photo is on that list). It’s just an all around amazing episode. 😀

  13. 1. Santa in the Slush- It has such a lovely ring to it!
    2. Man in the Fallout Shelter- I’m a sucker for history, and even though it wasn’t necessarily historical, it required the team to think back on another time. I also love that it was a bottled episode taking place only in the lab.
    3. Santa in the Slush- I think everyone played a pretty important part in the episode in some facet…and Hodgins got to do what he does best: dig through a dumpster.
    4. Goop On the Girl- ‘Snowfall’ by Ingrid Michaelson, ‘Start of Wonder’ by Matt Alber and Bob Dylan. All perfect.
    5. Man in the Fallout Shelter- ‘Be kind, rewind,’ ‘An eve and a day,’ ‘Christmas lung fungus’- Love them all.
    6. Santa in the Slush- Anytime Booth and Brennan interact with the group of Santas! “Bird’s nest soup!” and “Whoever smells like the wet sweater really needs to take a step back.” Haha!
    7. Goop On the Girl- The funeral/monologue. Beautiful.
    8. Goop on the Girl
    9. Santa in the Slush- Santas everywhere, Christmas at the jail, Christmas Tree gifts. ❤
    10. Goop on The Girl- The whole Squint Squad + Max and Margaret at Christmas dinner. There's more than one kind of family. 🙂
    11. Man in the Fallout Shelter- I love that the Bones writers/directors/actors can create an episode that is interesting, dynamic, and exciting all in one setting. Also, seeing them eat Chinese food in the bone room was awesome.
    12. Goop in the Girl- "Vascular tissue on your cocky belt buckle." Need I say more?
    13. Santa in the Slush- it's the entire episode. I just think she looks gorgeous throughout.
    14. Santa in the Slush- The kiss scene! I just think that their expressions in that scene say so much more than what they are actually vocalizing. They are both so flustered and adorable. "Thanks for the gum." 🙂
    15. This one is way too hard so I choose two: Santa in the Slush AND Goop on the Girl- Santa in The Slush's last scene was just perfection in every way. I wanted to include Goop on the Girl because they just seem so coupley in the end scene. It's adorable.

So that's 7 points for Santa in the Slush, 6 points for Goop on the Girl, and 3 points for Man in the Fallout Shelter. Do with that info what you will. 🙂 Can't wait to see the results!

  14. 1. Title – Santa in the Slush
    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case – I think all 3 are great cases. I think there was more ‘work’ to get the final verdict in Goop.
    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets) – Santa in the Slush. Sweets with ‘ears’ and explaining why it’s our responsibility to lie to little children, Hodgins in the dumpster, Angela and Christmas decorations, we get Caroline and we even have Zack!!
    4. Music – Man in the Fallout Shelter. Perfect for the scenes.
    5. Quote/section of dialogue – There are soooo many here. I am not sure if I want to go funny (Christmas Eve/Day) or serious (Owen’s dialogue). So I pick them all! 
    6. Moment that makes you laugh – Brennan, Booth & Caroline’s reactions after the mistletoe kiss. ‘A whole flotilla.’ ‘I don’t know what that means, but Merry Christmas.’ ‘I have stuff to do.’ I laugh every.single.time.
    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad – Funeral Scene in Goop on the Girl. I feel sad but hopeful at the same time. The fact everyone is there for the mother is so amazing and shows how much they all care.
    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith – This one I’ve had a very difficult time answering. Question my faith doesn’t happen (I’m a lot like Brennan) but MiTFS and GotG both really make me think. Fallout makes me think of how I’d feel if I was in Brennan’s shoes and Goop makes me think about humanity and how people are and can be. So Goop probably edges out, since it makes me think just a bit harder.
    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc) – Man in the Fallout Shelter. They made lights with test tubes, the Angelator tree, the homemade gifts, it was all very Christmas-y.
    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’ – For me, Goop – hands down. Brennan’s entire family is there (minus Russ of course).
    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc) – Man in the Fallout Shelter. They used the lab very well. I loved all of the wide shots. (Side note: I just realized it was the first time they were locked in and Pudding was the 2nd – being locked in the lab turns into GREAT episodes!).
    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene ? Goop – ‘Yeah make fun of the naked guy. Knock yourself out.’ I mean – Naked Booth!? Hello!!!
    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: Man in the Fallout Shelter. Opening her gifts in the lab and smiling through her tears.
    14. B&B Moment – Goop. We got to see Booth telling Brennan that a heart can’t be broken only crushed and that her heart muscle is bigger than people give her credit for, all in one scene. Love it!
    15. B&B Ending – Santa in the Slush. That ending scene always makes me smile and feel warm and fuzzy. You can feel the love there.
My favorite Christmas episode is Goop, but Santa in the Slush is the one I watch more often because it’s funnier and more light-hearted.

WHEW, that was a tough one! 🙂

  15. 1. Santa in the Slush. Clever, and just the most pleasing to my ear.

    2. Again, Santa in the Slush. I don’t know why but I’ve always loved this case. I guess it’s just the whole “someone killed the real Santa!” angle that I love. A close second would be The Man in the Fallout Shelter.

    3. The Man in the Fallout Shelter. It’s the first time we get any real background on a lot of the squints (and we learn about Parker too) and I just love that.

    4. Goop on the Girl. I just think the music meshed with the story beautifully. It’s really the only episode I can think of at all where the music really stands out in my memory.

    5. The end of the mistletoe scene in Santa in the Slush. I could watch it a thousand times and never tire of it. “I have stuff to do… with bones.” “I understand completely. Yeah. Thanks for the gum.”

    6. See above. The mistletoe scene will have me rolling every single time. From the moment Booth says he’ll talk to Caroline and Brennan doesn’t even let him finish the sentence with her insistent “No!” to when he thanks her for the gum it’s just so wonderfully hilarious and totally “them.”

    7. This one was a tossup. But in the end I’m going to have to pick The Man in the Fallout Shelter when Brennan finally opens the Christmas presents her parents got her when she was fifteen. She cries, I cry. She laughs, I smile through my tears. It’s really REALLY close between that and the funeral scene of Goop on the Girl.

    8. Speaking of that funeral scene, the scene that makes me think the most is the radio guy’s speech in Goop on the Girl. Totally thinky and definitely worth a second look. And a third. And a fourth. I think it’s beautifully written and performed.

    9. Santa in the Slush, I think. Mistletoe, someone killed Kris Kringle, lying to kids is okay sometimes (especially at Christmas), Booth buying them a tree. It just never fails to put me in the holiday spirit.

    10. Goop on the Girl. Brennan inviting Booth to her family dinner, Hodigins telling Angela about “more than one kind of family”, Brennan meeting Margaret, and everyone together at Brennan’s for a Christmas meal. The whole episode just screams family.

    11. The Man in the Fallout Shelter. The entire episode takes place in the lab, but I barely notice it. I think the fact that I forget the setting never changes tells me that it’s done very well.

    12. I don’t know why, but the first picture you have up there from The Man in the Fallout Shelter. That tank top just gets my blood boiling every single time.

    13. The entire episode of Santa in the Slush. I don’t know what it is. The hat, maybe? I have no idea but from start to finish she’s just stunning.

    14. Okay, since my favorite B and B moment of these three is actually an ending, I’ll save it for 15. My second favorite moment might be a little strange, but it’s in Goop on the Girl. It’s the scene where Brennan says that a mother having to bury her son alone on Christmas is heartbreaking. She even has a little laugh at herself when Booth points out that she would call it “heart-crushing” because the heart is a muscle and can’t break. And of course “I think your heart muscle is bigger than people give you credit for.” I just think it’s perfect.

    15. Santa in the Slush. This is in my top ten B and B moments of all time. You can just feel the connection between them, even though they’re not even in the same room. It’s fantastic. And is Booth just unbelievably thoughtful and sweet or what? 😛

This was fun! We should do things like this more often. 🙂

  16. Warning: I am extremely indecisive. This may not work for me.
    1. I’m not sure about the title — I love all three equally (although Santa in the Slush immediately makes me think of walking around DC and western MD around Christmas).
    2. I’m torn between Man in the Fallout Shelter (I love history-based cases) and Goop on the Girl for the case.
    3. Goop on the Girl. The scene where Angela made the facial reconstruction was so amazing, I had to rewind and watch twice. Man in the Fallout Shelter may tie with this one (everyone was used equally and well).
    4. Goop on the Girl. Hands down. I flat out adore the music in that episode. “Star of Wonder” is one of my top favorite songs period.
    5. Owen Thiel’s speech from Goop on the Girl.
    6. When Brennan runs from Angela at the beginning of Man in the Fallout Shelter to escape peer pressure. Actually, most of that episode.
    7. The last ten minutes from Goop on the Girl, from the scene with Cam and Michelle to the end. Also, the end of Man in the Fallout Shelter when Brennan opens her gifts.
    8. Goop on the Girl. The whole thing. Not really question my faith, but it actually reaffirmed it, in some ways.
    9. Um… Santa in the Slush, I think, although Man in the Fallout Shelter would be a close second.
    10. Man in the Fallout Shelter and Santa in the Slush tied.
    11. Man in the Fallout Shelter. It’s the LAB, and they used every part of that set in amazing ways.
    12. End of Santa in the Slush.
    13. The scene with Brennan and Angela talking in the sleeping bags.
    14. The heartbreaking/crushing talk in car in Goop on the Girl.
    15. Santa in the Slush, because prior to that, they were still trying to understand each other, and after that, it wasn’t just about them.

  17. 1. Title: “The Goop on the Girl”

    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case: “The Man in the Fallout Shelter”

    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets): “The Santa in the Slush”

    4. Music: “The Goop on the Girl”

    5. Quote/section of dialogue (and what is it? Stephanie got us started on Monday; check that out if you haven’t already!): “The Goop on the Girl” I especially love the ending

    6. Moment that makes you laugh: Can I pick them all? Because “The Man in the Fallout Shelter” has Booth high, “The Santa in the Slush” has Caroline puckish and “The Goop on the Girl” has Booth as “evidence” and the scenes with Margaret.

    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad: “The Goop on the Girl” hands down. The ending is just so sad. The mom is burying her son all alone (well, before the group showed up) 😦

    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith: Owen’s speech at the end of “The Goop on the Girl”

    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc): Tie between “The Santa in the Slush” (MISTELTOE KISS) and “The Goop on the Girl.”

    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’: “The Goop on the Girl” (FAMILY DINNER).

    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc): I like “Goop on the Girl” because their in the lab, at the diner, at Brennan’s apartment, at the FBI Building, at the funeral and out in town questioning people.

    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene: “The Goop on the Girl”!!!

    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: “The Santa in the Slush”

    14. B&B Moment: The “heartcrushing” discussion in “The Goop on the Girl”, the evidence scene from the same episode and the mistletoe kiss.

    15. B&B Ending: “Santa in the Slush” (I rewatch this ending so many times) and “The Goop on the Girl” because of their sneaky looks at each other.

That was so much funny! I think I’m at a tie between “The Santa in the Slush” and “The Goop on the Girl” haha. 🙂

  18. 1. Title: Santa in the Slush
    2. Case: The Man in the Fallout Shelter
    3. Use of the Squints: Even though Sweets isn’t in this one, hands down The Man in the Fallout Shelter
    4. Music: A tie between The Man in the Fallout Shelter and The Goop on the Girl
    5. Quotes/Dialogue: There are SO many funny and serious ones, but one of my favorite’s was the radio broadcast from Goop.
    6. Laugh moments: Booth running around yelling, “Pants, pants, where are my pants?!” from Goop and the “I’m feeling puckish” and “Thanks for the gum.” lines in Slush.
    7. Cry/Sad moments:
    – Fallout: Brennan watching everyone’s family come and go/opening her presents at the end.
    – Goop: The funeral scene
    8. That’s a tough one… I’ve never questioned my faith, but they have made me each think about the real meaning of the holiday season and make me realize how precious life is.
    9. Holiday elements: The Man in the Fallout Shelter for everything except Santa (walking into Mr. Kringle’s apt) and of course mistletoe kiss (woohoo) from Slush.
    10. Family theme: Hands down The Man in the Fallout Shelter, but the scene in Goop when the everyone showing up to the funeral.
    11. Setting: The Man in the Fallout Shelter. No question. Between so many memorable scenes in the the lab and Brennan meeting Booth and Parker at Wong Foos.
    12. Gratuitous Booth: tie between “Evidence collecting” in Goop and the way he wears the heck out of that Grey sweater from Slush.
    13. Gorgeous Brennan: tie between the pic you have above of her laying down next to Angela in Fallout and how pretty she was in that burgundy dress in Slush.
    14. B&B moment: The mistletoe kiss
    15. B&B ending: All three are so good, it’s so hard to choose! But, I’ll go with the end of Slush when Booth and Parker surprise Brennan and her family with her “gift” of the Christmas tree.

  19. 1. The Santa in the Slush. It just sounds christmasy.

    2. The Man in the Fallout Shelter. I like all three cases but I picked this one mainly because they were stuck in the lab and didn’t really have much else to do but solve the case.

    3. The Santa in the Slush.

    4. The Goop on the Girl. I really love the song they have playing in the background of the monologue at the end of the episode.

    5. The Goop on the Girl. There are SO many good lines in this episode. The benjamin franklin quotes, daisy and sweets’s emoticon talk…plus all the ones that were mentioned in the scene study article.

    6. The Goop on the Girl. When Brennan meets her cousin at the Royal Diner for the first time and the conversation that they have there. Love it!

    7. The Man in the Fallout Shelter. This is the first and only episode of Bones that has made me tear which is kind of a big deal cause I don’t get emotional when I watch movies/TV shows but my heart really went out to Bones as we found out about her past and how her parents left around Christmas time.

    8. The Goop on the Girl. Whether we realize it or not, there are always consequences to the actions that we make and often times people can get hurt by them.

    9. The Santa in the Slush. Kris Kringle, a temp agency full of santas, elves, mistletoe, a kiss under the mistletoe, snow, the conjugal trailer christmas tree.

    10. The Santa in the Slush.

    11. The Santa in the Slush. They go pretty much everywhere in this episode. The lab, the jail, the diner, santa’s house, a temp agency, and the FBI building just to name a few.

    12. Do I really have to choose just one? hahaha…The Santa in the Slush. As much as I love a no-shirt Booth I’m going to have to go with the grey sweater on this one.

    13. The Santa in the Slush. Season 3 Brennan is my favorite.

    14. The Man in the Fallout Shelter. This might be considered more of an indirect moment but I really like the scene where Brennan is talking with Angela about when her parents left and Booth is at the door listening. This is one of many moments where he gets more insight into what made Brennan into the person that she is.

    15. The Santa in the Slush. When Booth brings Bones the Christmas tree. This ending always makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside 🙂

  20. 1. Title: A – no real reason, just don’t like slush and goop…

    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case: C – had more depth.

    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets): A: working together in the lab: always good.

    4. Music: A – I still cry everytime I hear ‘Have yourself a Merry little Christmas’ bc of this ep.

    5. Quote/section of dialogue: C. ‘Heart crushing’. I use that in everyday life now.

    6. Moment that makes you laugh: so many: stoned Booth, naked Booth…

    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad: A: when the families visit and Brennan has no one.

    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith: C: that an innocent man was blown up just before Christmas…

    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc): B: mistletoe, christmas tree presents, Angie and Hodgins decorations.

    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’: C: the dinner.

    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc): A: the lab looked fantastic.

    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene (Need some refreshers?): B: as much as I love naked Booth, Booth in the snow, with the tree is just wow.

    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: B: when she walks into the toy shop. Just gorgeous with that hat.

    14. B&B Moment: B: the tree eye-lock.

    15. B&B Ending: C: the holding hands, closed eyed smirks.

    • so for me, I’d say Man in the Fallout Shelter overall.
I cry everytime I watch it. I love the innocence, the revelations, the growth, of the time. I love the story and how its not about B&B. Its about family and care.

  21. 1. Man in the Fallout Shelter – my clear favorite — it was one of the first episodes I saw and made me be invested in the characters. It drew me in and made me care.
    2. Case – Fallout Shelter – I usually don’t concentrate much on the cases as I prefer the character development, however, this case seemed to affect the characters in a more personal way than some others.
    3. Squints -Fallout Shelter has some of my favorite lines of the whole show. Also, we get to know the squints better. Lastly – this ep is before Cam and I am not a fan of Cam (don’t shoot me!)
    4. music – tie – Fallout Shelter and Goop on the Girl
    5. quote – Fallout Shelter – Christmas eve day, its both an eve and a day. It’s a Christmas miracle! I just love that Booth is so happy despite their current circumstance. He finds joy in small things. I don’t think all of that is related to the shot.
6 laugh – Fallout Shelter – Christmas lung fungus… eve and a day… Hodgins reaction to Zach’s robot… so many good lines.
    7. cry, sad – Fallout Shelter – Brennan opening her gifts at the end.
    8. question faith – none though I really appreciate the writers bringing faith into the show without being sappy. Faith (or lack thereof) is such a real part of their lives it makes the characters whole.
    9. holiday elements – Fallout Shelter – I appreciated that they could improvise when confined. Also, Angela’s elf outfit was great.
    10. Family – Fallout Shelter – the conversations about how they celebrate Christmas as a family and how sad Brennan is that she doesn’t have that makes me realize how important family is. This was one of the
    11. Setting – Fallout Shelter – having most of the ep take place in the lab makes the show more cohesive covered more ground than most because it didn’t have to have a bunch of city sight scenes (though I like those as well)
    12. Gratuitous Booth – goop in the girl – no contest.
    13. Gorgeous Brennan – Fallout Shelter – she is so beautiful in season 1.
    14. B and B moment – Santa in the Slush – Booth and Parker bring the Christmas tree to Bones at the end. It is so wonderful and shows such caring and love it almost makes up for the rest of Santa in the Slush.
    15. ending – Santa in the Slush for the same reasons in 14.

  22. 1.Title
Santa in the Slush – it’s the most obviously Christmassy one.

    2.Actual honest-to-goodness case
Um hmm, tricky. I think the Man in the Fallout Shelter because it’s amazing that they solved a crime that old without leaving the lab, and it was a beautiful heartbreaking story.

3.Use of the Squints (including Sweets)
Santa in the Slush – Sweets listening to them talk at the diner about their mistletoe kiss was pure gold. ‘Was there tongue?’ haha. (Incidentally, Booth looked so so hot in that scene. Bring the black jumper back!)

    4.Music
Man in the Fallout Shelter – ‘Have yourself a Merry little Christmas’ became my favourite Christmas song after that. ‘’Through the years, we all will be together, if the fates allow…’ yeah they will!

5.Quote/section of dialogue (and what is it? Stephanie got us started on Monday; check that out if you haven’t already!)

    Simple but effective…Santa in the Slush;
    ‘I love my present Booth’
    ‘Merry Christmas Bones’

    6.Moment that makes you laugh
‘I’m all ears’ haha he’s such a dork, I love Sweets – Santa in the Slush

7.Moment that makes you cry/feel sad
    Man in the Fallout Shelter
Breaks my heart when everyone’s family is visiting and no one comes for Brennan. That whole scene (with the song mentioned above!) is gorgeous, and such a good way to demonstrate how alone she is in the world. Booth and Parker are beautiful too.

8.Moment that makes you think/question your faith
The Goop on the Girl – the idea that being alone at Christmas means that no one loves you is so sad, and thought-provoking because lots of people are alone at Christmas for various reasons. It makes me want to reach out to them.

9.Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc)
Man in the Fallout Shelter – they make each other lovely thoughtful gifts, Booth has his discussion about the ‘man upstairs’, Angela wants to kiss Booth under the Mistletoe (I’d have loved to have seen that!), Hodgins and his eggnog that starts it all, Angela’s beautiful tree. I just love it, the idea of family, giving back, being together, making the best of it, sharing stories of themselves, it’s wonderful.

10.Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’
Goop on the Girl – I love that they all spend Christmas together at Brennan’s house, and Hodgins’ reinforces one of the main themes of the show ‘there’s more than one kind of family’

11.Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc)
Man in the Fallout Shelter – filming the whole episode in the lab was brave but they managed to keep it interesting, and it kind of cemented the lab set as almost a character in itself

12.Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene (Need some refreshers?)
Yummmmmmmmmmy pictures. Give me a moment to collect myself.

Ok. Has to be Goop on the Girl ‘evidence’ scene. Don’t know about you, but that was literally the best Christmas present I got last year haha.

    13.Gorgeous Brennan Moment:
Man in the Fallout Shelter – when Brennan was on the phone trying to track Ivy Gillespie down all night. She looked gorgeous, but the fact that she spent the whole of Christmas Eve night doing that for someone she’d never met really showcased the beauty of her heart too.

    14.B&B Moment
I’m going to be predictable I’m afraid, it has to be Goop on the Girl – evidence collection. Apart from EITB, I think it’s the most overtly sexual scene we’ve seen between them. I adore it on so many levels, they both acted it superbly. (I loved the scene analysis of this by the way). My favourite second of the scene is when Brennan is undoing his shirt I think, and his head tilts and he looks at her neck, it’s so obvious he wants to kiss it. I love it, it’s so subtle.

    15.B&B Ending
Santa in the Slush – possibly even my favourite episode ending of the entire series. The Christmas tree scene makes me well up every single time. That’s Booth at his absolute best. Couldn’t imagine a man more handsome: the gray jumper, the leather gloves, the long coat, the love shining in his eyes. The cuteness of him and Parker together and simply the most romantic, thoughtful, friendly, loving gesture I think I’ve ever seen on TV. It was so simple, and honest. He did that for her because he wanted her to have a proper Christmas with her family. Tt makes me misty thinking about it! Let us count the ways in which this man is perfection ha.

And I love Brennan’s response, so simple, so honest and true ‘I love my gift, Booth’. It’s gorgeous, they’re gorgeous. I love it.

So it looks like the Man in the Fallout Shelter has it, with 6 points to the other two’s 4.

I’d still say that Slush is my favourite overall though. The mistletoe and gray jumper edge it!

  23. 1. Title: The Goop on the Girl. I love the title of this ep — it just rolls of the tongue.
    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case: Hands down, The Man in the Fallout Shelter
    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets): I know you don’t mean it this way, but the best use of the squints for me was in The Man in the Fallout Shelter where they used Hodgins dressed in a towel. I never looked at him the same way after that…
    4. Music: Hmmm… this is a toughie. While I loved the music and the way they used it in The Man in the Fallout Shelter, I’ve got to give this one to The Goop on the Girl. I simply fell in love with the scene where Angela is reconstructing the victim’s face and Ingrid Michaelson’s Snowfall was playing. Beautiful.
    5. Quote/section of dialogue: I couldn’t stop laughing in The Man in the Fallout Shelter when Booth says “Well, nothing brings people together like a Christmas lung fungus.” Hahahahah! Season one was so witty.
    6. Moment that makes you laugh: Everyone getting stuck in the hiney with anti-fungal meds in The Man in the Fallout Shelter
    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad: The victim’s mom in The Goop on the Girl. So sad 😦
    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith: The scene where the radio guy is closing down his station — what he says. So deep. The Goop on the Girl
    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc): Angela’s elf outfit The Man in the Fallout Shelter
    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’: “There’s more than one kind of family.” – Hodgins The Goop on the Girl
    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc): Visually, I loved all the different ways they shot The Man in the Fallout Shelter. When Booth, Brennan and Dr. Goodman are up on the second level with their feet hanging off. When everyone is greeting their loved ones through the glass. The sleeping arrangements — all gorgeous.
    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene: I love Booth getting rolled away by Brennan in The Goop on the Girl while Angela just gawks. Lol.
    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: I’ll pick on of the ones you screen capped. I just love her makeup in the undressing Booth scene in The Goop on the Girl. Her lipstick is just soooo perfect.
    14. B&B Moment: Santa in the Slush I loved their interaction right after they kissed. The dialogue was amusing and very telling of their effect on one another.
    15. B&B Ending: Santa in the Slush. The sweetness of Booth’s gift, the looks they give each other, just priceless.

  24. 1. Title: The Santa in the Slush

    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case: The Goop on the Girl – I thought it was a bit more difficult, however I do love the man in the fallout shelter

    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets): Santa in the Slush

    4. Music: The Santa in the Slush – that rendition of Santa Clause is Coming to Town at the end always makes me smile and sing along

    5. Quote/section of dialogue (and what is it? Stephanie got us started on Monday; check that out if you haven’t already!) – Either Booth saying “It’s after midnight Bones, hmm? Christmas Eve Day. Both an Eve and a Day. It’s a Christmas Miracle” from The Man in the Fallout Shelter because it just makes me laugh or the speeches at the end of The Goop on the Girl (both the radioman’s and Booth’s toast)

    6. Moment that makes you laugh – The Santa in the Slush, I love the scene where B&B are at the victim’s house and Brennan asks the shopowner what Christopher Kringle’s previous address is, and then it turns out to be the North Pole, and Brennan and Booth start bickering right in front of him. The fact that Brennan actually considers it is “the mythic being known as Santa Clause” just makes me laugh. Also love the aftermath of their kiss. “i’ve got to go do something with … er… bones” HAHA

    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad – The end scene to the Goop on the Girl.

    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith – The end speech of Goop on the Girl makes me question not my faith but humanity

    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc) – The Man in the Fallout Shelter – Head of Jeffersonian dressed as Santa, spiking eggnog, kissing people under the misteltoe, angela dressed as an elf, her christmas tree, Secret Santa

    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’ – The Goop on the Girl, even though Brennan’s dad comes up with the idea of inviting Margaret, Brennan’s still invites all her friends and their loved ones. I thought it showed how much everyone means to her now.

    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc)

    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene – Brennan undressing Booth in C, although him doing pull ups in A does come close second 😉

    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: The Santa in the Slush

    14. B&B Moment – The Goop on the Girl ‘heartcrushing’ speech.

    15. B&B Ending – Santa in the Slush – Booth’s gesture is just so sweet, he knew she would visit her family over going away

    • whoops, fogot #11. Use of setting – I think Santa in the Slush – they use the diner, lab, jail, fbi building, victims apartment, temp agency, street and alleyway.

  25. My choice is c. The Goop in the Girl.
Everything about the episode was great. Especially the scene ‘stripping Booth for evidence’.

  26. I’ve been thinking about it and have watched all three of them in the last few days, and I’m not sure I’m capable of making a decision. But we’ll give it a go.

    1. Title – The Santa in the Slush. I think I like the way it sounds.

    2. Actual honest-to-goodness case – I like them all for different reasons, but think I think Goop edges the other two out, with MitFS running a very close second.

    3. Use of the Squints (including Sweets) — In terms of solving the case, I think the edge goes to Goop; in terms of favorite squint scene, I think it might be Sweets’ explanation of Christmas and children in Santa.

    4. Music – I particularly love the musical choices from MitFS.

    5. Quote/section of dialogue (and what is it? Stephanie got us started on Monday; check that out if you haven’t already!)

For humor, I like this exchange between B/B:
BOOTH: Bones, it’s after midnight. Hmm? Christmas Eve day. Both an eve and a day. It’s a Christmas miracle.
BRENNAN: Still enjoying your medication, I see.

For drama, I like Owen’s speech at the end of Goop on the Girl, particularly this line: And I intend to show that this good, simple man also did not die in vain…That he redeemed one angry, shouting man. So these are the last words I will ever broadcast. And I hope they’re the words you remember best.

    6. Moment that makes you laugh
Sweets’ ears in Santa in the Slush.

    7. Moment that makes you cry/feel sad
the funeral at the end of Goop on the Girl; I also cry when Ivy says, ‘I thought the worst of him…you’ve given me back my life’ in MitFS, though that’s not really sadness.

    8. Moment that makes you think/question your faith: Owen’s reminder in the same speech at the end of Goop that Christ did not die in vain

    9. Incorporation of Holiday Elements (gifts, religion, Santa, mistletoe, eggnog, tree, etc) – the theme of gifts in MitFS wins this one, I think, as it runs all the way through the episode.

    10. Success at achieving goal of the theme of ‘family’ — Goop on the Girl, where ‘there’s more than one type of family’ is referenced, both explicitly (by Hodgins) and implicitly.

    11. Use of setting (the lab, the diner, the jail, etc) – the conjugal trailer at the at end of Santa, I think.

    12. Gratuitous Gorgeous Booth Scene (Need some refreshers?) — wait, I have to choose between gray sweater and naked Booth?

    13. Gorgeous Brennan Moment: I think she’s particularly beautiful in two scenes in Goop on the Girl: when she’s undressing him, and when she’s talking about the victim’s mother burying him alone

    14. B&B Moment: The undressing scene – not just because they’re so aware of one another, but also the way she invites him to dinner, and you know she’s thinking about what Max said about people alone at Christmas not feeling loved.

    15. B&B Ending – the end of Santa in the Slush, where they’re on the phone, watching one another.

Huh. I think Goop on the Girl has a slight edge for me over the other two, but as soon as I write that, I panic because I really love the other two. Man in the Fallout Shelter was the first episode I ever saw, and, well, The Santa in the Slush has the gray sweater…
