  1. I love the beginning…that they’ll miss Sweets’ blueberry muffins and his DVDs.

Brennan’s, “You’re not going to stay for lunch?” She’s gonna miss Sweets!!!

Daisy and Hodgins back in the lab again! Bonus: Booth and Hodgins in the lab!!

Sweets’ calling the preppers “wack jobs”…that’s not very shrinky Sweets!

I liked Daisy’s mature speech. Definitely leaving the door open for a reconciliation, though they aren’t there yet.

Booth figuring out the booby trap…and being a victim of the trap too! 🙂

Mr. and Mrs. Sweets….”You’re dad is hot”…..Bah hahahahahaha!

Love the Baby Duck thing coming full circle. Wasn’t sure how I felt about Sweets moving in with them but now I am with Brennan and Booth, I think I’m gonna miss their family dynamic!

Solid and sweet ep. I liked it!

  2. Yummy to above pic!

I was sad to Sweets move out because B&B were sad. 😦
Loved Booth dressed more casual this epp, Short sleeve shirts, blue FBI jacket. Light blue shirt at the ending. Booth in full gear with big gun is always good too!
Did not expect Sweets to me moving in with 2 women. I expected Daisy to be at the door.
B&B DO NOT look old enough to be Sweets parents. I did like the girl saying his dad was hot however.
B&B now have to find child care at the drop of a hat. Hopefully we will see more of Max!
    Booth needs another generator.
Nice to see Booth back in the lab with Hodgins. Even if he did get slimed!

  3. We all want another episode like that. Maybe with Sweets gone…hahaha.
As usual, I’m gonna get this out of the way first…DB is looking great. The whole FBI gear and the shirt? Always leaves me dead.

The case was really really interesting. I love the actual show Doomsday Preppers, it’s crazy.

I knew B&B were gonna miss Sweets. I’m gonna kinda miss him too, which is surprising considering how much I didn’t like him at first with them. I love the baby duck! I also love their little family.

Daisy’s speech was nice, Maybe friends? Hopefully not together again.

All of Hodgins’ experiments were great. They’re always great. And Angela pulling the letter together for her friend…sweet.

The ending was GREAT. Mr. and Mrs. Sweets…haha. And the girl saying that “your dad is hot.” I was dying. We all knew that though.

    All in all, great episode.

  4. I need to start taking notes during episodes! I like the scene Booth & Sweets had outside his office. Booth was all concerned if Sweets checked out the building & it was safe. Sweets pats his shoulder and says “I’m going to miss you too Agent Booth”. Booth: “Right, well I see you all the time here at work. I’ll get my tub back. Your juice will be gone…” Booth was really quite sad!
Brennan did tell Daisy that Sweets is the only person her & Booth could live with.

    • I did that once – taking notes. I wrote a post about three pages long then… XD A freaking essay on Bones episode.

      • I have taken to writing notes throughout the episode because I sometimes forget those little moments within an episode that make it special…and there are usually so many! I thought the whole dynamic between B&B and Sweets was nice and I really liked it. He was definitely the son (big brother for Christine) that they will miss greatly. It’s fun to watch their early interactions with Sweets vs. how they interact with him now. I only wish Stephen Fry would clear his schedule a bit to pop in and see how they are all doing…lots of what is happening now is due to his insight and help a couple of seasons ago.

  5. What I liked: Booth in the lab, Hodgins and his experiments, Sweets finally moving out, B&B kind of sad that their baby duck was moving out. Even Daisy did not bother me in this episode. Mr & Mrs Booth & your dad is hot comments were very funny.

What I didn’t like: Not much B&B together solving the case, and no B&B sweet moments. I usually love the last scene, and all I could think about was how far apart they were sitting on the couch. Kind of bothered me, but maybe I am in the minority.

    • I’m with you about that couch scene. Yup maybe we’re in the minority. But still…

    • you are not in minority, that was exactly my thought seeing this scene, they could have this conversation cuddling together. I want to see them cuddling once in a while. The were sitting waaay apart.

  6. This episode was AWESOME! I just can’t describe it otherwise. I was giggling madly when Brennan said she’s going to miss a free daycare, and I loved their family time. I LOVE new mature Daisy she’s amazing, very enjoyable and I like how she’s so similar with Brennan in her speech pattern and behavior. I’m not sure how I feel about Swaisy… I might now find myself actually shipping them… and I always feel as if the PTB were making them as young version of BB, which I don’t exactly like…

Hodgins! Oh, Hodgins my love – you’re childlike excitement over experiments lifts my day, Angela and Cam saying the experiments where awesome was so great! And then Booth/Hodgins experiment 😀 I loved it, it was short hilarious and I felt the good camaraderie between them 🙂

Angela was the sweetheart, loved the Hodgela moments too 🙂 even if they were only work related the love is always there in the background.

Booth was awesome too, and HOT (but when he’s not?). Casual clothing, then the FBI gear, the suits. Ah, HOT. And he solved the case, and he even agreed to experiment with his Bug Guy. 🙂

Finally, the moving out – it was EXACTLY what I wanted. BB as parents who wanted whats good for their Baby Duck, but still feeling sad over him leaving the nest (Bren even got teary! which is another thing I wanted), and Booth was all in Daddy mode with his concern 😀 And Sweets moving with two girls! Did not see that coming, but love it a lot! GO Sweets! 😀 I loved the girls thought BB are his parents, and although Bren looks too young, Booth kinda could pass as his Dad. And I don’t mind that. They are family. I’m gonna miss it so much. I’m happy sweets moved out, but I’m gonna miss the family. I always loved that he was living there, because like Daisy said, they all love each other, and when he needed someone he went to them, and they took him in, because they are all three lone people who over the time became their own family.

The case… ah, what case? I was way too invested in our characters, than this case…

There are only two complains from me:
    – BB sitting WAY too much apart at the ending. I would be happy for them cuddling together, comforting each other after Sweets’ leaving.
    – as much as I LOVE hot Booth in FBI gear, all I was thinking in that scene was – really, he goes to charge an unknown bunker with possible booby traps and other dangers and he goes without head protection? (I know it’s a TV series and that’s because we could see the awesomeness that’s DB, but I’m well, like that, it should be accurate…)

No matter what, I LOVED this awesome episode. 🙂 Now if only I would get a vacation episode I’d die happy and go to BB heaven 😉

  7. Sadly this episode was meh to me. Do you guys notice that Booth and Brennan only had five, count em FIVE scenes together?? and they just booked ended the start and end of ep….. I am actually just at a loss for words…and before you guys jump on me it is NOT about other characters getting plots, before when this has happened there has always been a good balance of their plots and B&B scenes. O at the very least B&B had more than 5 freaking scenes together. …I did like seeing Booth at the lab, the gunk scene, Booth and the tac team and Sweets finally leaving the hut, which was long overdue for me as that plot had been milked dried IMO and the end of the day that is Parker’s room and he will be visiting some day, hopefully before he gets his pension….Anyhow, I hope that B&B having a measly five together doesn’t ever happen again and was a one off because for this fan it does not work and it isn’t what the essence of Bones is IMO.

    • There was another episode with less than five scenes together for B&B, The corpse in the canopy. Nobody complained about it then. I’m not saying I liked it, but it is what it is. They’re trying out other interactions we don’t see as much, like Hodgins-Booth and Hodgins-Brennan.

    • I agree with everyone’s frustration with lack of B&B, but I’d also caution to withhold judgement until the end of the season. I don’t know what they’ve got planned, but maybe the lack of B&B scenes or how they are written, is leading up to something. Maybe it will all become clear by the finale? I just know that I had a complete freak out when Brennan said “I’m pregnant”, but I ended up loving how they did it. I also didn’t like the whole Hannah thing at first, but then she ended up helping B&B get together so now I’m cool with it. Perhaps this will work out in the end if we just stick it out! Crossing fingers! 🙂

  8. I think my beef is more that Booth and Brennan are suppose to be PARTNERS who solver crimes together, correct? Now you tell me how B&B were partners when they had ONLY TWO scenes as actual partners: one at the crime scene and one interrogating a suspect…that is just unbelievable too me!….I give Bones a pass for B&B lite eps when David is prepping for directing or when it is a special type of ep i.e. Pellant…..But not for their usual type eps. ….And I dont buy the mixing up characters scenes dynamics for less B&B either i.e. Hodgins and Booth had plenty of scenes S1-S3 never ate into B&B scenes……Nope sorry, writers dropped the B&B ball in this ep, big time. IMO.

  9. Guess I am more shocked that anything on the lack of B & B as partners. When did Sweets become Booth’s partner? Not working for me and so happy Booth saw it was time for Sweet’s sake, not theirs, for Swts to move on. Sorry, all those lab scenes with things blowing up were dumb and Booth getting slimed was not funny. If that is how the lab is run, no wonder he hates the lab. I work in a lab and if that happened in my lab, each one of those failed experiments would have gotten an incident report/investigation expecially the slimeing. What did I like? That Booth recognized it was time for Sweets to leave and that he would still be in their lives, baby duck has left the nest. FINALLY.

    • What failed experiments? The experiments all worked. The episode may have been lite on the B&B scenes but it was in no way Booth lite. As for the partners issue, I’m not even commenting on it because I feel like that dead horse has been beaten enough.

  10. I’m going to venture what is bound to be an unpopular opinion (I rarely say a negative thing about Bones, so I don’t feel like I’ve used up much of my complaining time), but I’m kind of with Sharon on this one; the episode didn’t do much for me either, although not entirely due to the lack of B/B time. The whole thing felt very disjointed, with scenes that didn’t add up to a whole as far as I’m concerned. It’s probably the most lackluster one of the whole season so far imo, which otherwise I’ve pretty much been loving. Many of the individual scenes were great, particularly the ones at the lab with Hodgins, but we barely had a suspect to speak of. When they brought the killer in at the end, it was like pulling a rabbit out of a hat. As to the connection between the case and the main storyline, didn’t see much there other than I suppose you can’t hide away from reality forever, be it Sweets or the preppers. The final scene left me puzzled as to the bigger meaning of Sweets’ stay at Casa B/B, if there ever was one. That they’re like family? Already knew that. That Brennan can feel attached to someone other than Booth and Christine? Check. And Booth? He did the inviting, but he seemed more than anxious in this episode as in previous ones to get Sweets out of his house, and not for purely selfless reasons like Sweets’ personal growth. I got the impression he was annoyed at having someone in his house for so long (I realize it’s Bones time and it was probably only a couple of weeks, but in my defense Booth’s insistence that he go already made it seem like is was longer.) I know others have criticized Boooth for being short with Sweets, so I’m not alone in seeing this. In his defense, he just got his family back together, he and Brennan seem like they’re having some issues, and he probably needs the time alone with her (hence his vacation request.) Yet, I feel like they had Booth come off like a meanie in some episodes, unfairly as I see it. I also honestly got no warm and fuzzies from their final goodbyes, other than Brennan getting a tiny bit choked up during the toast. I guess I expected some emotional breakthrough for one of them or something a little more touching, but it was more of a ‘don’t let the door hit you on your way out’; not even a comment from B/B about being alone once again and as they sat miles apart on their couch. The “hot” comment was cute (and he is one hot daddy indeed), but not enough to salvage it for me.

I’m going out on a limb to wonder if Sweets was being used as kind of a buffer, to distract the Bs from their bigger problems. If not, then I truly don’t get why he was there at all, let alone for so long. Disclaimer: no, I’m not one of those people who hate Sweets or was offended that he was staying at their house-some of their time together was fun to watch. It’s just that this episode felt kind of cold all around for me, and left me scratching my head, wondering what the producers had in mind when they sent Sweets to live there. Maybe there was no point, and I suppose that’s ok; it’s just that it was such a big part of this year’s storyline, and I though there’d be more to it-could also be it comes into play in the near future. Just my $20 worth (begins to duck…).

  11. so you got me worried with all the talk of BB sitting apart and Sweets being a buffer and possible problems for BB behind the scenes… do you guys think BB are having some problems we don’t know anything about yet, just see glimpses of them or not? and why? (just no spoilers if there are any, only your opinions)

    • While I don’t think their relationship is in “trouble” like they’re going to break up, I don’t think Booth & Brennan ever really resolved their feelings about her time on the run. I think that’s why Booth “needs” a vacation alone with her without any distractions or interruptions. I think the relationship angst about that was one of those story lines that was talked about by HH & SN, but so far there hasn’t really been any development of it since episode 2.

      • And that’s the million dollar question, isn’t it? Is the stuff we think we’re seeing on purpose, and is it even there at all? I thought we’d be witnessing more of what HH talked about earlier, but so far, only glimpses here and there. I suppose the season of “is love enough” hasn’t reached its conclusion yet.

  12. I love that Sarah included a picture from The Goop on the Girl because one of the clues that solved the case was ultimately FINGERNAILS! There was bomb residue on the fingernails in this episode, just as their was in Goop. As far as the couch-sitting worries that are being discussed, I wouldn’t read too much into it, as I know the longer two people who love each other very much are in a relationship, the less they need to be constantly cuddling. I think BB shippers are still bummed out that we didn’t get to witness the early-relationship swooning and cuddling between them. That mooshy stuff got kinda skipped the way they went straight into Season 7 super pregnant and not really in a place to be all over each other. After pining for them to be together for so many years, us BB fans enjoy every lovey-dovey scene we can get. HH and SN are careful not to load episodes with too much of it, because they truly wish to remain a crime and murder show. But we know better what the show is really about.

    • Could not have said it any better!

    • And they usually do it in an uneven distribution. We get episodes with what some shippers consider practically nothing, other times we get 2 or more kisses. Many times it’s an overload of stuff for selected episodes. I guess it’s like almost putting us on a carb diet, then every so often letting us pig out on sweets til we’re stuffed to hold us over until the next time.

I love seeing all aspects of their relationship. They aren’t in high school, but that’s not to say they can’t be eager and still enjoy the physical parts of their relationship.

  13. This is a great scene study post of the final scene in Doom. Puts it in perspective with B&B on the couch. I wholeheartedly agree with her assessment.

    • Thank you so much for posting this link. Yes, a terrific scene study.

    • Yes. I loved this.
I can understand some people being bummed about not seeing some things they want to see, but I think it’s important to recognize what we ARE seeing, because sometimes that’s even more beautiful and squee-worthy. It’s just about having an open mind, even if you don’t see it that way the first time around.

  14. I just remembered something I meant to say here last week and forgot to mention.

I really got a strong feeling in this episode that the writer’s were showing us what Booth and Brennan are going to be like when their own kids are much older. We’re never going to see them waving Parker or Christine off to college, but I really got that vibe when they were seeing Sweets off.

He was all independent and ready to fly the nest, and Booth in particular was worried about him leaving, and whether he was ready. He was all – have you checked the heating/gas/damp etc. It was such a ‘Dad’ moment, it was lovely. And then they reinforced it with the ‘hello Mr and Mrs Sweets’ stuff and saying ‘your dad is hot’ (yeah he is!). Was just a nice moment.
