Great news! As you may or may not have heard, Bones has been renewed for a 10th season, and starting on March 10th, it will be returning to Monday nights. The official info from Fox here.
In the meantime, here is a scene study I’ve wanted to do for a few weeks. It takes place in the season nine episode: The Sense in the Sacrifice.
Fun Fact: This post only covers 60 seconds of the ep, yet it still generated over 80 pics. Good times.
I am not going to add a lot of context here at the beginning, but basically, Pelant was still on the loose and horrifyingly so. Booth is on edge because Flynn has been murdered. He and Brennan are interrogating a suspect, and Booth is frustrated. Brennan has a little faith in him (and his faith in Flynn)…it’s the rational thing to do, after all.
Brennan posits that Pelant might be framing Flynn.
Brennan thinks it’s rational, based on what the suspect said. When Booth disagrees, she brings up the point that he stood up for her in the interrogation room, and he says he did so because in all the years they’ve worked together, she has never been wrong.
I love that look; so confident that she knows the truth.
She tells him that it is equally impossible that his gut is wrong. In other words, the equal evidence of their partnership from her point of view tells her to trust his gut…making it a rational decision.
And in that moment, there is nothing he can do but kiss her.
Fun little reaction shot from the rest of the bullpen here outside Booth’s office.
Yeah, we were all a little speechless right then.
“To hell with the FBI”, Booth counters.
Double dang, son!
That look tells me that phrase might have just become their new code phrase for getting down and dirty.
“I have to go,” Brennan breathes, and Booth sort of nods along with her words. There’s a moment where he licks his lips with his tongue (obviously), and it’s just perfect. Couldn’t quite get the right pics from it, but watch it!
Brennan is literally imagining all of the things that could be better than science right now, and they are all standing in front of her, looking all tall, dark and handsome. And flustered, and cute, and you get my point.
Very sweet, and I love the little callback to the Santa in the Slush, when she had to go do something… “with bones…” and was all flustered too. Delightful!
She saunters/sashays away, and Booth watches her go before going into his office.
To conclude, I really loved this scene. I think that the promos and other various things had somewhat spoiled the idea that Pelant might die and B&B would be fully reconciled in this episode. So this little 60 second gem of a moment was like WHOA, WOW DID THAT JUST HAPPEN!
And yes it did.
I loved that it happened before B&B were back to being engaged, because it shows that no matter what, they always believe in one another.
Okay, enough from me. What did you like about this scene, this episode, etc.
Talk to you soon!
